The Australia managed security services market covers outsourced security monitoring, managed detection and response, firewall and network protection, vulnerability management and compliance support that organisations buy from specialist providers instead of building a full in-house operations centre. Demand comes from government agencies, banks, hospitals, universities, utilities and mid-sized businesses that cannot recruit enough analysts to watch their systems around the clock.
In 2025, the market is valued at AUD 2105.56 million in 2025 and is forecast to grow at a CAGR of 11.80%, reaching AUD 6423.71 million by 2035. Growth is driven by 1,524 cyber incidents handled by the Australian Cyber Security Centre in its 2026 annual report, tougher reporting duties and the shift towards sovereign, onshore delivery.

2026-2035
The Australia managed security services market is moving from basic log monitoring towards full detection and response. Boards want round-the-clock cover, regulators expect faster reporting, and agencies prefer providers that keep staff and data onshore, which favours local operators and carriers over remote offshore services.
Three forces are shaping the market: a rising incident load, with 1,524 incidents handled by the national cyber agency in its report released in October 2026; tighter rules, including ransomware payment reporting within 72 hours; and consolidation, as global groups buy local specialists.
In August 2025 Accenture agreed to acquire CyberCX, and the deal closed in February 2026. In July 2026 the government published its second action plan, with 19 actions and 64 initiatives, including a tiered CyberSmart scheme for small business.
The market is moving from alert monitoring towards managed detection and response that includes investigation, containment and reporting support. Security monitoring and SIEM services lead in value because every other service depends on log collection and triage, while detection and response grows fastest as buyers want analysts to act, not only notify. Hybrid delivery remains the largest model, yet cloud-based platforms gain share as providers standardise on shared endpoint and identity tooling. Government and finance buy the most, and education and research advance quickest on sector-wide procurement. New South Wales remains the largest region, and Western Australia grows quickest on resources, defence and sovereign operations. Sovereign delivery, tiered small business schemes and consolidation point to a structural shift in how security is bought rather than a short cycle.

Incident Pressure Anchors Long-Term Demand
Revenue is on course to more than triple across the decade, from AUD 2,105.56 million in 2025 to AUD 6,423.72 million in 2035 at an 11.8% CAGR. The national cyber centre handled 1,524 incidents in its 2026 report, and ransomware payment reporting rules keep boards focused on detection speed.
Detection and Education Lead Growth
Security Monitoring and SIEM holds the largest share, but Managed Detection and Response grows at an estimated 14.4% CAGR and Education and Research at an estimated 13.8% CAGR through 2035. AARNet launched a CrowdStrike-based managed detection service in May 2025, and Macquarie Cloud Services opened a university-focused operations centre in July 2026.
Sovereign Delivery Shapes Procurement
Public buyers increasingly ask for onshore, cleared analysts, and providers are responding with new local centres and government-grade certifications. Smaller providers win niche contracts, while larger groups bundle security with networks and cloud.

The Expert Market Research’s report on the Australia Managed Security Services Market offers a detailed analysis of the market based on the following segments.
Market Breakup by Service Type
Security Monitoring and SIEM leads on value, in our estimate, because log collection and triage underpin every other service. Managed Detection and Response grows fastest at an estimated 14.4% CAGR through 2035, as seen in AARNet's May 2025 launch of CrowdStrike-based detection and Sophos's February 2025 completion of its Secureworks purchase. Managed Network and Firewall Security remains steady as carriers bundle it with connectivity. Vulnerability and Exposure Management grows with edge device guidance in the July 2026 action plan. Compliance and Governance Services support payment reporting duties in force since May 2025.
Market Breakup by Deployment Mode
Hybrid is the largest mode, in our estimate, because agencies and regulated firms keep some monitoring close to sensitive systems while using shared analytics. Cloud-Based grows fastest at an estimated 12.9% CAGR through 2035, supported by Macquarie's April 2026 Netskope award for secure access services and its July 2026 university operations centre. On-Premises demand persists in protected government environments, such as the externally managed PROTECTED centre AUSTRAC sought in February 2026, where data location and clearance matter.
Market Breakup by End-Use Industry
Government and Public Sector leads, in our estimate, with Macquarie Technology reporting in August 2026 that 42% of federal agencies are customers and Kinetic IT winning a Defence service contract in January 2026. Banking, Financial Services and Insurance follows on reporting duties. Healthcare buys managed monitoring to protect patient data. Education and Research grows fastest at an estimated 13.8% CAGR through 2035, as AUCyber won university contracts in September 2026. Energy and Utilities grows with critical infrastructure rules, and Others include retail, logistics and mining.
Market Breakup by Region
New South Wales dominates, in our estimate, as Sydney hosts the headquarters of major banks, carriers and Macquarie Technology, whose Sydney campus houses the July 2026 university centre, and it grows at an estimated 11.3% CAGR through 2035 from a large base. Victoria grows at 11.9%, supported by Melbourne's CyberCX origins and LevelBlue's Melbourne Airport customer. Queensland grows at 12.2%. Western Australia is the fastest-growing region at 12.7%, helped by Perth-based operations centres. Rest of Australia, including Canberra, grows at 11.6%.
| CAGR 2026 to 2035, Market by Region | Growth Rate |
| New South Wales | 11.3 % |
| Victoria | 11.9 % |
| Queensland | 12.2 % |
| Western Australia | 12.7 % |
| Others (Rest of Australia) | 11.6 % |
Competition combines carriers, global integrators, specialist security firms and sovereign-focused infrastructure providers. Entry barriers include security clearances, onshore analysts, vendor partnerships, certifications and trusted relationships with government and regulated buyers.
CyberCX
CyberCX, a Melbourne-founded group, provides consulting, transformation and managed security services, including managed detection and response, identity, cloud and network security. Accenture announced on 14 August 2025 that it would acquire the company, which has about 1,400 professionals and operations centres across Australia and New Zealand, and the deal closed on 27 February 2026, making it Accenture's largest cybersecurity acquisition.
Macquarie Technology Group
Macquarie Technology Group, headquartered in Sydney and listed on the ASX, supplies sovereign cloud, data centre, telecom and cyber services through Macquarie Government, Macquarie Cloud Services and Macquarie Telecom. On 26 August 2026 it reported 42% of federal agencies as customers and AUD 235.6 million of Cloud Services and Government revenue, up 11.2%. In July 2026 it launched a university security operations centre.
Telstra
Telstra, headquartered in Melbourne, sells managed security services to enterprise and government customers alongside its networks, supported by its Telstra Purple consulting arm. At its full-year results on 13 August 2026 the company said it is increasing its investment in security to help keep customers safe. Its bundling of connectivity, monitoring and cloud security gives it broad reach among large organisations and public agencies.
LevelBlue
LevelBlue is a global managed security services provider that completed its Trustwave acquisition in August 2025 to create what it calls the largest pure-play provider. On 27 August 2026 it opened an onshore Sydney security operations centre staffed by local analysts, with Melbourne Airport as the first organisation to move across. The centre serves critical infrastructure, government, regulated enterprises and mid-market buyers.
Other players operating in the Australia managed security services market include Optus, Datacom, Kinetic IT, Triskele Labs, and AUCyber, alongside Accenture's wider practice, carriers, resellers, regional integrators and smaller specialists supplying monitoring, detection and compliance services to organisations across Australia.
Competition rests on onshore delivery, clearance levels, technology partnerships and sector credentials rather than price alone, while acquisitions are reshaping which providers win large contracts.
